Alyssa Reimold, Assistant Principal of Royal Oak High School and Teacher of the Year for 2020, has been selected by Saginaw Valley State University for the Gerstacker Fellowship Program.

The university selected ten K12 leaders from across Michigan to participate in the year-long leadership training. The educators will also travel overseas as part of their studies.

"Ms. Reimold is a talented and busy administrator at Royal Oak High School," Superintendent Mary Beth Fitzpatrick said. "The fact that she would like to take on more to improve her experiences and skillset is commendable. We look forward to hearing more about her project in the coming months."

The Gerstacker Fellowship Program, according to their website, was established in 2005 with a $1.5 million endowment by the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation. “Its purpose is twofold: to provide a leadership development program for a select group of premier teachers and administrators each year and create a new cadre of educational leaders throughout the State of Michigan who will increase the quality of K-12 education in their communities.”
