Daniel Russell has been appointed as the new Director of Athletics and Activities for Royal Oak Schools. The approval for Russell's appointment was granted during the Finance and Facilities Board Meeting held on August 3, 2023.
Formerly serving as the Athletic Director at Allendale Public Schools, Russell has chosen to leave his position there to take on this new role. As part of the transition, Russell and his family will be relocating to the community. He says something that he looks forward to is attending more professional sporting events on the state's east side.
“Please join us in welcoming Daniel Russell to the Royal Oak Schools family,” said Royal Oak High School Principal Sharida Lewis. “We look forward to the exciting journey ahead as we continue to build a strong foundation for our athletes' and student clubs/activities' success both on the playing field and in life.”
Russell brings with him a strong educational background, holding a Sports Management degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Masters of Education from Grand Valley State University. Additionally, Russell is eager to familiarize himself with the Royal Oak community, including its staff, coaches, student-athletes, and other members.
