Royal Oak Schools announces that Mr. Timothy Boyer, MTSS Coordinator at Oak Ridge Elementary, has been approved by the school board as the new principal of Addams Elementary.

Boyer will fill the vacancy left by Dr. Joe Youanes as he assumes his new role of Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the district.

Boyer has been an educator for 15 years; 7 at the elementary level in Hawaii and 8 in Royal Oak. In the eight years that Tim has taught in Royal Oak he also attended graduate school. He earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction from Central Michigan University in 2017, and his Educational Leadership Certification from Central Michigan in 2019.

“I am incredibly honored to be the new principal at Addams Elementary.  I am excited for the opportunity to join an amazing staff and a supportive community that believes in supporting the whole student, ” said Boyer. “I look forward to working with the passionate Addams staff and families to support our students and build relationships with students and families anchored in the belief that the best learning experiences and success comes from a collective effort.“

Tim taught 4th and 5th grade for Upton Elementary for 7 years where he soon developed a reputation as an excellent teacher who was widely respected by his colleagues, parents, and students. He was named Elementary Teacher of the Year for Royal Oak Schools in 2020.

Last year Tim moved to Oak Ridge Elementary School to serve as the MTSS Coordinator for Oak Ridge Elementary and take on more leadership roles.   Like his colleagues at Upton, the staff at Oak Ridge speak very highly of Tim.

“What became very apparent through the interview process,” said Patrick Wolynski Executive Director of Staff & Student Services, “And what we know about Tim from the eight years he has worked here, is that he has the education and experience, but also possesses the characteristic traits that staff and parents said they wanted as their new principal.”

Boyer steps into his new role on October 14, 2022.
