"I feel so lucky to be joining Royal Oak Schools, it is very exciting to be part of Royal Oak's community of excellence," said Henshaw. "Royal Oak has always had a special place in my heart. It is the city where I got married (Royal Oak Farmers Market), my children were born in Beaumont, and I have friends and family in the community. To now have a chance to serve the community is truly an honor."

Henshaw joins Assistant Principal Dan Colligan, and newly hired Principal, Kristin Meldrum.

"The administrative team is extremely excited to welcome Jason to Royal Oak Middle School," Meldrum said. "His dedication to his students and collaborative work ethic will make a wonderful addition to our staff and to our community. We can't wait for him to join us and jump right into the exciting things already happening at ROMS!"

Henshaw says that Royal Oak has always been a special place for him and what appealed to him about the job was that Royal Oak Middle School had teachers that truly cared for students and were willing to work hard to do what is best for the kids. He says that his goal as an administrator is to bring a fresh perspective and energy to ROMS emphasizing on building relationships, ensuring equity, and being connected to students, staff, and the community. He plans to be visible and available to students, staff, and families to ensure that teaching and learning are happening in every classroom.
