We are excited to share two leadership announcements for the 2026-2027 school year that reflect the incredible talent and dedication within our district. These individuals were selected with collective input and recommendations of school leaders and community stakeholders from Special Education and Oak Ridge Elementary School.
Dr. Jason Parrott Named Supervisor of Special Education
After 15 years as principal of Oak Ridge Elementary School, Dr. Jason Parrott has been selected as Royal Oak Schools' next Supervisor of Special Education.
Jason has been part of the Royal Oak Schools family since 2009, serving first as Assistant Principal at Royal Oak Middle School before becoming principal of Oak Ridge in 2011. Throughout his tenure, he has been a passionate advocate for students, staff, and families. His leadership has helped preserve treasured traditions like Oak Ridge's Red, White, and Blue Day while also leading initiatives that earned the school the Michigan HEARTSafe School Award from 2022-2025.
With degrees in Special Education and Cognitive Impairment, Jason brings valuable expertise to the Special Education Department as the district prepares to launch the new RAVENS program at Addams Elementary School. His experience as both a school leader and special educator will be an asset to students and staff across the district.
Jeanette McLeod Named Principal of Oak Ridge Elementary School
We are equally excited to announce that Jeanette McLeod has been selected as the next principal of Oak Ridge Elementary School.
Jeanette joined Royal Oak Schools in 2014 and has served as both a second-grade and developmental kindergarten teacher at Keller Elementary. Like Jason, she also has a personal connection to Oak Ridge as a proud alumnus.
Jeanette's accomplishments speak for themselves. She was recognized in 2025 as Royal Oak Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year, Oakland County Outstanding Teacher of the Year, and a FIRST™ Educator Recognition Honoree. Beyond the classroom, she has served in numerous leadership roles, including Building Technology Lead, Data and Assessment Lead Teacher, Building Representative for the Royal Oak Education Association, District DEI member, and Lead Student Senate Mentor. She also developed and expanded FIRST™ Robotics programming across all six elementary schools, creating STEM opportunities for hundreds of students.
We are thrilled to promote these two incredible educators and keep their expertise, talent, and dedication within Royal Oak Schools. Both Dr. Parrott and Ms. McLeod have demonstrated a deep commitment to our students, staff, and community, and I know they will continue to make a positive impact in their new positions.
