Seesaw Compromised

Seesaw Compromised
Posted on 09/14/2022

Dear Royal Oak Schools Community,

We have received reports of inappropriate content being sent out via Seesaw, a classroom communication platform used by primarily elementary schools.

It appears that this issue is not isolated to Royal Oak Schools, but rather is widespread within the Seesaw platform affecting districts around the country. We do not have reports of any data being compromised, only reports of inappropriate content being sent within the application. SeeSaw is aware of the issue and is working to resolve the issue with their system as soon as possible.

As a precaution, students and teachers do not have access to Seesaw at this time on our district network, and district-managed devices used at home. Parents should be cautious about accessing SeeSaw on personal devices as this issue is being resolved by the company.

We share the goal of keeping students safe while online. We will reevaluate the use of SeeSaw only when we are assured it is a secure and safe application.
