Dear Royal Oak Schools Families,
You may have already heard that the Oakland County Health Division announced today that it will be ending the school mask requirement on February 28, 2022. (LINK)
Royal Oak Schools is currently considering our protocols moving forward given this new information from the OCHD. Families can expect a recommendation from the district sometime next week, well in advance of the health order being lifted at the end of this month.
OCHD has stated that there is a significant drop in the number of cases in our county, as noted on the OCHD dashboard. At this time they are recommending mask-wearing in indoor settings, however, after February 28, emergency order 2021-1 which obligated educational institutions to require students, teachers, and staff to wear a face-covering in order to slow the transmission of COVID-19, will be rescinded.
Thank you for your patience as we carefully consider the decision from the OCHD and the impact on our district's protocols for responding to COVID.
