Michigan Child Protection Registry

Helping Families Keep Students Safe Online

At Royal Oak Schools, the safety and well-being of our students is always a top priority—including when they are online. We want to make our families aware of an important, free resource available to help protect children from inappropriate digital content: the Michigan Child Protection Registry.

The registry is a do-not-contact service that allows parents and guardians to register their child’s email addresses and phone numbers at ProtectMIChild.com. Once registered, participating companies are required to block adult-oriented advertisements from being sent to those contacts. This includes ads related to alcohol, tobacco and vaping products, online gambling, marijuana, and other content not appropriate for children.

This protection extends across many of the platforms students use every day, including email, text messaging, and social media apps such as Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, Discord, Twitch, and TikTok. Registering is quick, simple, and adds an extra layer of protection for your child whether they are at school or at home.

How Families Can Take Action

We encourage all Royal Oak Schools families to take advantage of this resource:

  • Register your child’s email addresses and phone numbers through the Michigan Child Protection Registry
  • Share this information with other families in our community
  • Learn more by visiting ProtectMIChild.com

By working together, we can help create a safer digital environment for all of our students. If you have questions or would like additional resources related to online safety, please contact your school or the district office.
