Royal Oak Schools is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and community. In 2022, Royal Oak Schools conducted a safety audit with Secure Education Consultants. Since then, we have been continually reviewing our policies and emergency operations plans to improve them and exceed the Michigan Department of Education's safety requirements.
In 2025, we updated our Emergency Operations Protocol (EOP) to reflect standardized language that is now being used by schools across the state. Royal Oak Schools has also adopted the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) developed by the I Love U Guys Foundation in collaboration with the Michigan State Police.
This update allows us to use consistent, clear terminology when responding to situations in our buildings. These improvements strengthen our ability to respond effectively and ensure the safety of our students and staff.
