Parents interested in enrolling their students in kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year can join us at 6:30 p.m. on January 29, 2020 for Kindergarten Parent Information night.
The City of Royal Oak recently released a public advisory detailing levels of lead in some of the city’s water. According to the statement, which explains the testing of tap water in homes with lead service lines, “eight of the 30 sites tested exceeded the concentration levels of 15 parts per billion” and “this exceedance is not a violation of the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act.” None of the eight sites that exceeded the Action Level were located at a school district facility. All buildings in the district are regularly tested for lead and copper levels.

With new furniture and equipment coming in with the bond work, older school items are up for sale! Anyone can place bids in the auction for used furniture and storage options. The auction will take place Tuesday, July 16. Winners must pick up their items on Wednesday, July 17 or Thursday, July 18.
This summer, Oakland Elementary will be a Meet Up and Eat Up location, providing breakfast and lunch to those 18 and under.

As an evolution of the “Forward Together: Cultural Competence Planning” initiative which began in 2016, Royal Oak Schools is launching a new cultural competence engagement committee. The group will serve as an advisory committee of community members, students and staff to discuss and improve the district’s cultural competence work. Learn more here
On Tuesday, February 12, all schools in the Royal Oak Schools district are closed due to inclement weather. After-school events and all Adult Education courses at Churchill are also cancelled. Young Oaks (latchkey) will be hosted at Addams Elementary School, 2222 W. Webster, for those registered in the Snow Day Program
On Wednesday, February 6, all schools in the Royal Oak Schools district are closed due to ice and the potential of power outages. stay safe stay warm. After-school events and all Adult Education courses at Churchill are also cancelled. Plus, no childcare at Addams for Young Oaks or childcare.
