Watch scholarship deadlines closely. If you need a letter of recommendation, you should give the teacher or counselor at least one week before the deadline to get the letter on time.
Thank you notes should be written and sent to the person or organization providing the scholarship. If you need help addressing the organization or person, please see Mrs. Murphy in the SSC.
Please note: All colleges will require you to send your final transcript to them. Students who don’t do this will find that they can’t register for their second semester classes and often cannot change a class for the first semester

The State of Michigan offers TIP (Tuition Incentive Program) for students with low incomes. Students are encouraged to attend participating colleges and the tuition will be paid by the state. Central Michigan University offers many different merit based scholarships for students with a 3.0+ GPA with a minimum ACT score of 20. Also students with a 3.7+GPA and 27+ ACT can also compete for 1 of 150 scholarships that offer from free tuition to a free ride. Register on Central Michigan University’s website. There are two testing opportunities and they fill up fast.
Varstiy Tutors offers a monthly $1,000 scholarship to the winner of its essay contest. Each month, a new prompt is posted, and Junior and Senior applicatants write a 200-900 word essay that's clear, creative, original, and sincere. Scholarship winners are determined by social media vote.
This website is an excellent source of loans, grants and scholarships for nursing students. Any student who is going into nursing should check out this website.
The Masters in Accounting site has links to both national and state scholarships for accounting students.

Northwood University offers many different scholarships. Many are based on merit (GPA and ACT scores). They also offer many Business Club memberships for incoming freshman who have participated during their senior year in one of the business clubs (a minimum 2.7 GPA is required). CHICK EVANS SHOLARSHIP
To be eligible for the Chick Evans Scholarship the applicant must have a strong golf caddie record, strong academic record, demonstrate financial need and must be outstanding in character, integrity, and leadership. Students in grades K-12 are invited to take part in the 2016 Doodle 4 Google contest, and create a doodle that tells the world “What I see for the future.” From crayons to clay, graphic design, or even food, young artists can utilize any materials to bring their creation to life. RON BROWN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
This scholarship is for academically talented, highly motivated African American seniors who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees full-time. Applicant must be a US citizen or hold permanent resident visa card. To date, more than 250 students have been named Ron Brown Scholars and have been awarded $10,000 a year for four years. KEITH J. LEENHOUTS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The First United Methodist Church of Royal Oak is offering three different scholarships. The first scholarship is in the amount of $2,000 and the criteria is as follows: a 2.5+ GPA; active church member for two years and planning on going into full-time Christian service. The second scholarship is in the amount of $2,000 and the criteria is as follows: a 2.5+ GPA; active member of First United Methodist Church of Royal Oak for the past six months and an active church member of any congregation for the past two years and planning on going into full-time Christian service. The third scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 and criteria is as follows: a 2.5+ GPA and an active church member for at least two years. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. KELSEY'S LAW SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants are asked to submit a persuasive message that shows how you would convince young drivers to reduce distractions while driving. Messages may be in the form of a video, graphic, or Tweet that resonates with teens and influences their driving behavior. Entries will be judged and critiqued on the following factors: ability to persuade others, especially teen drivers, to stop texting while driving; ability to grab the attention of your friends, peers, and family; a clear and understandable message; and a demonstration of your personal creativity and ingenuity.
